Tummy Tub: Bathtub or Expensive Bucket?

Just watched a clip on msnbc.com about a relatively new product to the U.S. for babies called the Tummy Tub. Its a bathtub that apparently simulates the feeling of being the womb making bathtime a more enjoyable experience for baby and mommy, they retail for about $45.00 USD

While inventive, and maybe even effective, this product looks more like a see-through bucket! I personally would not spend $45.00 on a Tummy tub when my two year daughter does just fine with a bowl from the dollar store.

Just a matter of personal taste I suppose. It might work for you but for me, not so much!

Hydroxycut Recall: Weight Loss and Liver too?

As of today the FDA has recalled Hydroxycut Diet Aids. The recall was posted earlier today because of reported deaths, liver failure and many other serious health complications that occuring after prolonged usage.

The FDA cited at least 23 patients who experienced adverse reacations as a result of using this popular weight loss formulation and at least one person required a liver transplant!

Apparently users of the supplement were health before using Hyroxycut and took the recommended dosage. However, the formulation of the product has been changed over time, which has made it difficult to pinpoint which of the product's ingredients is responsible for the recent health hazard.

The question here I suppose is, weight loss at what cost? Are you willing to possibly lose your liver with those few extra pounds?

Myrtle Beach on Fire

The wildfires that ripped through the coast line of South Carolina, have reached Myrtle beach resulting in approximately 2500 evacuations from the area. There are currently no reported injuries but about 40 homes in this busy tourist center have been completely ravaged, after the flames apparently jumped the highway near the beach.

State Forestry Commission spokesman Scott Hawkins has been heard to have said, that with fires this large, it usually takes torrential downpour to put them out!

Fire started yesterday afternoon and areas that have been evacuated since include: North Myrtle Beach City Hall and the House of Blues

Rihanna has Chris Brown Replaced?

This story makes me think of the lyrics of Beyonce's Irreplaceable song specifically this line :

"I could have another you in a minute, matter fact he'll be here in a minute"

'Say it aint so' Chris Brown as been replaced by the youngest member of the NBA, L.A. Lakers Andrew Bynum.
Well, life continues, and when you don't know how to treat a lady like a lady, the lady will move on!

The two was allegedly spotted at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, looking very comfortably couple-ish with each other.

Who is Andrew Bynum?
He was trained by Kareem Abdul Jabar, and started off a little rocky in his rookie season (November 2005) but now at the age of 21 averaged 13.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in last year's season with the Lakers

Good for you Rihanna!

'SMURFING' - do you know what it is?

The new terminology you may want to keep your ears open for if you have teenagers or young adults in your care.

According to Urban Dictionary (3rd entry for the meaning of the term Smurfing) it is:

Purchasing small amounts of pseudo ephedrine in several stores or by groups of people, with the purpose of using it to make methamphetamine

This is the new way to produce meth and stay under the radar. Because these pills are OTC (over the counter) meds, there is no restriction on the amount purchased at any given time.

Several arrests have been made in recent weeks, as police departments all over the country are becoming aware of this new form of illegal drug distribution.

FAILURE: Not an Option

Can you imagine?

Teachers in Greefield Distrcit (California) are working under the poorest conditions. No books, no access to the latest technology, not enough electrical outlets in the district's 'newest' school and these men and women are expected to produce the best students in the district!
Sounds like the Board members like the way it sounds to say "Failure is Not an Option" or enjoy the ability to gloat when test scores rise.

How is it that failure isn't an option for the students and teachers but the failure of the School Board to provide adequate resources and material is acceptable?

Greenfield Union School District has planted an apple seed and expecting an orange crop. But kudos to the teachers who, year after year have remained faithfully committed to the success of their students.

I think these are these are the areas in our society that TRULY are worthy of a bail-out!

$5 Dollar Dinners?

RECESSION
no one is exempt!

So it seems that EVERYONE is feeling the pinch of the recession. Even the packaged food industry, who have always prided themselves on being 'recession-proof', are also scrambling to ensure that they don't lose customers as a result of the tightening economy.

Recently saw the Campbell's ad, promoting the many different ways their broths could be used in cooking, and thought to myself...wow even the big money tycoons are worried!

It seems that the new gourmet dining may now be $5 Dollar Gourmet
